PROBLEM DEFINITION AND OBJECTIVE

PROBLEM
1. Normally all the ceiling fans that we use are operated on 240 volts.
2. Due to this more amount of electricity is consumed resulting in rise in electricity bills.
3. The blades used in normal fans are heavy.
4. 240 v fan uses 42-55 watts.
5. Electricity consumption for 240 v is 1200 (watt-hour) per day.
6. Almost 200-300 Rs is required for 240 volt fan.

OBLECTIVE
7. To convert 240 volt ceilng fan to work on 12 volts.
8. Due to which there will be reduction in electricity consumption and hence reduction in electricity bill.
9. Making blades lighter as per 12 volt of the material acrylic.
10. 12v fan will use 24-30 watts.
11. Electricity consumption for 12 v will be 576 (watt-hour) per day.
12. Almost 100 Rs is required for 12 volt fan.
13. To achieve the air flow i.e CFM=150 M3/Min , i.e 5300 CFM (Cube Feet Per Minute).
14. To obtain 300-400 rpm.

CONSTRUCTION AND WORKING
CONSTRUCTION
• Firstly disassemble the old fan by removing the coils and stator.
• Then place the new magnet .
• Make proper connections with step down transformer ,rectfier, diodes etc.
• Place the stator winding in between the magnet.
• Then fix the blades to the central motor.
• Make connections with the main supply.

WORKING
• A 240v supply is supplied.
• The supply enters the circuit which includes stepdown transformer to reduce the high voltage to low voltage
• A rectifier is used to convert voltage to 12 volt .
• The 12 volt supply is given to the stator winding place in between the magnet.
• A n emf is induced and the magnetic field is generated .
• This rotates the motor and the fan rotates at constant speed.
