Resonance RLC Parallel Circuit

Objective
• To Study the effects of variation of frequency on an R-L-C Parallel Resonance circuit.

Components and tools

• AC source.
• Resistor.
• Inductor.
• Capacitor
• Ammeter
• Voltmeter
• Ground
• Oscilloscope
Theory
• Resistance  is a measure of the opposition to current flow in an
electrical circuit.
• Inductance is property of conductor that opposes any change in
electrical current. Stores energy in form of magnetic field in AC circuits
and act as short circuit in DC.
• Capacitance  is the ability of a component or circuit to collect and store
energy in the form of an electrical charge.
• Reactance is the opposition presented to alternating current by
inductance or capacitance

Theory
RLC Parallel circuit
• RLC Parallel circuit is an electrical circuit in which resistor, capacitor and
inductor are arranged in such a way that the voltage remains common in
all three components.
• RLC Parallel circuit is often called Parallel AC resonant circuit because it
generates oscillations at its output.
• RLC Parallel circuit is widely used as a Electromagnetic wave generator
and low pass filter.
Resonance Frequency is a frequency at which the capacitive and inductive
reactance's cancel each other leaving only resistive element behind.
Theory
• In RLC Parallel Circuit at resonant frequency the total current flowing
through the circuit is minimum.
