AUTOMATIC
EXHAUST FAN
PROJECT PROBLEM
The use of existing exhaust fans in the work room is an important matter . However , the
use of this product also has problems that often occur . For example , a switch that is not
closed after use , this will cause an increase in electricity consumption . In addition , a
frequent problem is that which prevents the user from turning off the exhaust fan switch .
For example , wet hands after cooking , non-agronomic switch position , damage to the
switch part and others . This happens because users want to avoid unwanted accidents
such as electric shocks , loss of balance when in high places and others . Next , damage to
the motor part is also often a problem in the use of this product , technically the damage
that occurs is due to a period of use that is too long , due to the switch not being closed .
Damage to the motor part is something that always happens to the exhaust fan .

OBJECTIVES
The objective for the production of this project is to develop an
exhaust fan that moves automatically . In addition , make
improvements to the existing exhaust fan .
3
SCOPES
In carrying out this project , the item used is the exhaust fan which is the main
material to produce this project . In addition , indicator lights are also used to
make the operating status of the device on , off , or damaged . Next , smoke
sensor are also used in the production of this project . A smoke sensor is a
sensor capable of measuring various smoke/gas signals . Finally , this project also
uses a microcontroller such as Arduino . Arduino is used to control exhaust fans ,
indicator lights and smoke sensor by programming .

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Indoor air quality describes how indoor air can affect health , comfortness
and ability to work . Among the aspects that affect indoor air quality are
temperature , relative humidity , fungi , bacteria , poor ventilation , and
exposure to chemicals . Awareness about indoor air pollution is less when
compared to outdoor air pollution . The use of exhaust fans in workspace
such as kitchens can reduce the resulting air pollution . Technically , the
exhaust fan works by sucking polluted air trapped in a work room . Various
types of exhaust fans that can be found in the market. Among the
differences found in this product is the type of material used , physical
form , different technical function and others .
