INTRODUCTION
Traditionally, cow dung has been used as a building
material for its pozzolanic and waterproof properties
The availability of cow dung is dispersed all over the
country especially in rural area
Utilization of cow dung to produce cow dung ash
will solve waste disposal problems that most farmers
and pastoralists face
INTRODUCTION
Literature says that cow dung ash may improve
the physical and chemical properties of concrete
Cow dung ash performs well in when a limited
percentage and can be used for floor
applications or as a building component
PROBLEM STATEMENT
To investigate the feasibility of partial
substitution fine aggregates with cow
dung ash in concrete production.
To promote the preservation of the
environment and natural resources
through optimization of cow dung
waste.
To develop a cost competitive
structural light weight concrete by
incorporating cow dung ash.
PROBLEM JUSTIFICATION
Partial replacement of fine aggregates with cow dung ash may
improve the workability of concrete and may act as an additional
binder
The utilization of cow dung ash in concrete can be a feasible
solution to solving air and water pollution problems posed by cow
dung disposal
If feasible, incorporation of cow dung ash in concrete may reduce
construction costs
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
MAIN OBJECTIVE
Investigation of the suitability of utilization of cow dung ash as a partial
replacement of fine aggregate in concrete production
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
Investigation and comparison of the physical and mechanical properties of
regular concrete to concrete made from partial replacement of fine aggregate
with cow dung ash
Comparison of the workability and strength of regular concrete to concrete
made from partial replacement of fine aggregate with cow dung ash
SCOPE OF RESEARCH STUDY
Sourcing of secondary information from previous researches
conducted on cow dung ash use in concrete production
Sourcing of materials required to produce cow dung ash
Conducting standard tests on the sample of concrete produced
including slump test, compressive strength test, split tensile strength
test and water absorption test
Discussion of results and formulation of recommendations as well as
comparison of normal concrete to cow dung ash concrete
SCOPE OF LABORATORY TESTS
Concrete
testing
