PROCESS ORIENTATION

It is always overwhelming to move to a new place

and adjust to an unfamiliar environment. You have
to adapt to your new surroundings and new people
around you. You have to get accustomed to a new
culture and make yourself familiar with the system.
This often becomes time-consuming and very hard
without any proper guidance.
PROCESS ORIENTATION
So, what if a new employee is facing the same situation in
an organization?

Employees often complain about being too overwhelmed

about their new job. Also, understanding a new job takes
time and effort. Recruits feel that too much information is
being dumped on them with very little time in hand.

A leader must guide a new employees through their job.

On top of that they need to understand the organizational
value and the goals. This is where workplace orientation
comes in and plays a vital role in an organization.
What is process orientation in healthcare?

● Process orientation places a priority on how

things are done.

● It is a willingness to remain open and follow

in new directions.

● It means setting aside mainstream ways of

achieving results and instead following
culturally respectful processes that also
produce results.
Why is it called orientation?

● Orientation is a relatively new word that

was derived in the 19th century from orient,
which means to point yourself in a specific
direction.

facing.
Why is process oriented important?
● Process orientation helps in both organizational
engagement and management.

● Organizational engagement - Process orientation

contributes to clarifying the personnel's roles and to
constructively engage them into improvement work.

● With defined structure and clearly defined roles and

responsibilities, the process-oriented person helps
others to model the way based on a desired protocol,
set of behaviours and demonstrated organizational
values.

● In a process-oriented organization, processes are

mapped so that task responsibilities are described
with a focus on processes.
Is process oriented a good thing?

• Process-oriented working is a great experience for

your employees.

• They get more opportunities to develop their

approach and behavior in the workplace, which is

The Pre-Orientation Stage
Pre-orientation begins before the start date
of your new employees and involves sending a
package of information via email or postal service.
This package typically includes documents such as
an organizational chart, vision statement, mission
statement, explanation of benefits, annual report
and a checklist of what the actual orientation will
cover.

The Introduction to the Job-Site Stage

The purpose of this job-site orientation is to
make your new hires familiar with the basic layout
of the company and to understand the general
precepts that govern how the workplace functions.
This orientation usually takes a day to complete.
Stages of Orientation Process
The Job-Specific Orientation Stage
The goal is to shrink the orientation to the
actual tasks that the new employee will perform,
with an understanding of the normal workday
processes that will ensure maximum efficiency.

The Follow-Up Orientation Stage

The follow-up orientation stage lets you
determine how well your employee is performing
assigned duties and also reveals how well your
company has done in providing all the tools and
help necessary for new hires to flourish. Of all the
levels of orientation, this one is most critical to long-
term success.
