The

Internati
I o-nal Space
S Station is a
S large
spacecraft in
orbit around
Earth.

It serves as a
home where
crews of
astronauts and
cosmonauts live.
The space
station is also a
unique science
laboratory.
How Astronauts live
and in ISS
How they sleep:

They lie in a sleeping bag

which is strapped to the wall.
Astronauts have reported
having nightmares while
sleeping in space.
This is how they eat in space.
Food is prepared using microwaves
and convection ovens. At the water
stations, a water gun reconstitutes
dehydrated meals and fills water
bags. When an astronaut chooses
their meal, they scan a barcode
found on the back of the meal's
package. This allows their mission
team to keep track of what they
are eating.
On the ISS, astronauts
do not shower but rather use liquid
soap, water, and rinse less shampoo.
They squeeze liquid soap and water
from pouches onto their skin. Then
they use rinse less soap with a little
water to clean their hair.
