4. How do slums affect the economy?
Slums affect the economy by poor health conditions,
poor education availability as the cost of education is
very high, rising numbers of crimes due to social
inequalities, Poor instructural facilities like poor quality
of water ,poor sanitation conditions, and exploitation of
rural people in cities. Air pollution and land pollution are
also the common problems of slums that the economy
encounters. Many slum dwellers have high rates of
unemployment as a result of a lack of education and
skills as well as competitive labor marketplaces.
Many of them work in the informal sector, either
inside the slum or in established urban districts close
to the slum, due to the lack of available jobs. Slum
dwellers are frequently a cheaper source of labor for
industries, and the more people are hired, the better
their living conditions can be. Due to the expensive
cost of living, the majority of slum inhabitants
purchase their commodities from other locals, which
promotes development and improvement of the
community.
5. How can we solve the problems of
slums?
In order to solve problems of the slums, what people can do is
to understand the significance and importance of slum
dwellers first to know their needs and wants. The Government
can also create a strategy which is a program about low cost
housing projects for slum dwellers. Moreover, it is also
encouraged for the people in the slums to enhance and train
their skills and capabilities that are within their capacity in
order to make or look for a better living. This also includes
better facilities and a better environment that's why, land
6. Is there a need to improve the slums?
Why? How?
Yes, there is a need to solve these problems since a lot of citizens
especially in the slums do not get the same opportunities as the others who
don't live in that particular area. People can help alleviate slum problems
by first understanding the relevance and importance of slum inhabitants in
order to learn about their needs and desires. The government may also
develop a plan for slum people to live in affordable housing complexes.
Also, it is urged that residents of the slums develop the talents and abilities
that are within their reach in order to earn or seek out a better living. This
also entails better infrastructure and an improved environment, which is
why land restoration must be completed first. With that, we can promote
better life quality where everyone gets the same opportunity.
