ISI LAPORAN / CONTENTS OF THE
REPORT
1. EXPLANATION
• The car AC system is actually a series of components that are made in
such a way, with the aim of regulating the temperature and humidity in
the car cabin. There is also a car air conditioning system that does not
always cool the cabin, but heats the cabin temperature.
NAMES OF CAR AC COMPONENTS AND FUNCTIONS

A. AC Compressor
• The function of the Ac Compressor is to pump the flow of Freon gas
so that Freon is able to circulate to all components of the car’s AC. The
way the compressor works is by using the rotary motion obtained from
the engine pulley.
B. Magnetic clutch

The function of the magnetic clutch is to adjust the compressor time

even though the engine pulley is still rotating.
• How a magnetic clutch works by using magnetic attraction, a coil is used
to generate magnetic attraction through the process of electromagnetic
induction.
C. Condenser

The function of the condenser is to transfer heat from the freon /

refrigerant to the free air.
• The way the condenser works is like a radiator, where to transfer heat as
much as possible, it is first passed through several cores.
D. Dryer

The main function of the dryer is to dry Freon from water.

The way the dryer works is like a filter, which is to filter water vapor that
enters the AC line.
• When the process of refilling the frame,
E. Exianston Valve
• The function of the expansion valve is to change the form of liquid
Freon so that it tends to a gas form through the spraying process. How
this membrane expansion valve works will bend and push the sarum
against the spring to open the expansion valve based on the pressure of
the heat being supplied. If the expansion valve is open in a wide
condition, it can channel large amounts of Freon gas.
F. Evaporator

The function of the evaporator is to cool the air to be ventilated into the
car cabin.
• The way the evaporator works is also the same as the condenser, where
cold-temperature Freon will be channeled into the core which also has
Conductor Fins.
2. BENEFITS OR USES

A. Control humidity
• Actually the cold air that comes out of the air conditioner when it is turned on
is the result of dew expansion. No wonder the humidity in the car becomes
more awake. Even so, you should be wary if the humidity in the car increases
dramatically. The reason could be a capillary pipe or an AC component that
might be dirty or leaking which actually makes all parts of the car cold.
B. Purify the air
• Another benefit of a car air conditioner is its ability to purify the air.
With pure air in the car, dust and dirt will not interfere which actually
makes the driver’s health threatened.
C. Control air circulation
• Why when the AC is turned on all the car windows must be locked
tightly, even though passengers also need air to breathe. No need to
worry because the air circulation in an air-conditioned car can still run,
it’s just that it circulates through the car’s air conditioner. So that
passengers in it can still breathe oxygen smoothly without fear of
difficulty breathing.
• 3. Damage occurred
• A. AC is not cold
• The AC system is not cold is one of the most common problems experienced,
especially in cars that are over 5 years old. The reason the AC is not cold can
vary, it could be due to leaking freon or AC pressure drops. To find out what
components are causing the car air conditioner to not cool, you need to do a test
using a manifold AC pressure tester. If found, immediately replace it with a new
one.
B. AC smells
• Air conditioning blowing normally does not smell, but sometimes there is an
unpleasant odor contained in the air blowing in the car air conditioner. This
could be due to external or internal factors. External factors can be caused
because your car is adjacent to a garbage disposal area or an area that has a
strong odor. While internal factors, it can be caused by germs or bacteria that
collect on the surface of the AC filter and AC evaporator or because there is a
carcass in the dashboard of your car.
C. Noise when power on
• When the AC switch is turned on, sometimes there is a noise. That could
be caused by the AC compressor being damaged. This sound can come from
the compressor that has fallen out, or because the magnetic clutch is
slipping. In addition to the compressor factor, the sound when the air
conditioner is turned on can also come from a loud extra fan. To check it, try
turning on the engine and air conditioning of your car and monitor the fan
rotation, is it noisy or normal.
• 4. Repair
• A. If the freon is too much
• If there is too much freon then reduce the freon according to the
standard, because if the freon is too much the compressor will pump
more freon and cause the car ac to be less cold
B. Dirty condenser
• If the ckndenser is dirty then clean it, because if it is not cleaned it will inhibit the air
released by the ac installation and make the ac not cold
• C. blowing air from the ac installation
• If in the installation there is a replacement of components, then vacuum the ac
installation, because when replacing components there must be air entering the ac
installation and the air makes the ac less cold
• 5. Care
• How to take care of an AC car so that it lasts and stays cold
• A. Keep the car cabin clean
• Regardless of the type of car used, cabin cleanliness is a must that needs to be
maintained by car owners. When the condition of the cabin in the car is dirty, dust
can enter the air conditioner filter so that it will interfere with the performance of
the air conditioner. If this happens, then the car cabin will be difficult to feel cold
even though the air conditioner is turned on.
B. Do not open the car window when the air conditioner is on
• The next way to take care of the car air conditioner is to make sure not
to open the window when the air conditioner is on. You need to
remember that car air conditioners are not designed to cool large rooms.
If the car window is open, then the performance of the air conditioner
will increase. Dust or dirt can also fly and enter the AC filter so that it
has a bad impact on AC performance.
C. Don’t smoke in the car

For some people, smoking in the car becomes a necessity for certain reasons such as to relieve boredom
or sleepiness. However, this should be avoided.

Besides being able to leave an unpleasant odor in the cabin, smoking in the car can also make the
circulation of the air conditioner polluted with smoke. Cigarette smoke has the possibility to enter the air
conditioning circulation system andsettle in it. As a result, the air coming out of the air conditioner will
mix with nicotine.
• Cigarette smoke can also stick to the AC evaporator so that it will interfere with AC performance. Keep
in mind that the AC evaporator is also known as the refrigeration unit whose job it is to remove cold air
in the car cabin. If the evaporator is damaged, then you will feel hot air in the cabin.
