This document discusses Adversity Quotient (AQ), which was developed by Dr. Paul Stoltz to describe how well people withstand and overcome adversity. [1] AQ takes the form of a theory, a measurement, and a set of tools. [2] It predicts who will overcome challenges and exceed expectations versus who will succumb to adversity. [3] High AQ is important for success in both work and life.

Quotient Paul G. Stoltz, PhD Who is Paul G. Stoltz?
Dr. Paul Stoltz is the originator of Adversity Quotient and
the world’s leading expert on the subject. A sought-after presenter and thinker, he combines inspiration with application, delivering a compelling, practical message to his audiences. He remains highly active in the classroom, teaching AQ to groups of all levels and sizes, and he has presented in some of the world’s largest venues. Dr. Stoltz brought AQ to the world through his internationally acclaimed bestselling book, Adversity Quotient: Turning Obstacles into Opportunities, which has been published in nine languages. He also wrote Adversity Quotient @ Work and The Invincible Investor. What is Adversity Quotient?
Adversity Quotient, or AQ, takes at least three forms. It
is at once a powerful theory, a meaningful measure, and a well-honed set of tools for persevering through challenging times. AQ describes how well we withstand adversity and our ability to surmount it. It predicts who will overcome adversity and who will be crushed. And it predicts who will exceed expectations and who will fall short. AQ was developed drawing from 3 major sciences: cognitive psychology, psychoneuroimmunology and neurophysiology. It embodies two essential components- scientific theory and real-world application. 3 Forms of AQ:
1. AQ is new conceptual framework for understanding and
enhancing all facets of success.
2. AQ is a measure of how well you respond to adversity.
3. AQ is a scientifically-grounded set of tools for
improving how you respond to adversity. Your success in your work and in life is largely determined by your Adversity Quotient:
*AQ tells how well you withstand adversity and your
ability to surmount it *AQ predicts who will overcome adversity and who will be crushed *AQ predicts who will exceed expectations of their performance and potential and who will fall short. *AQ predicts who gives up and who will prevail. Quitters, Campers and Climbers
1. Quitters, by definition, lead compromised lives. They
have abandoned the ascent in favor of what they perceive to be a flatter, easier path.
2. The second group of individuals is Campers. These people
go only so far up the mountain and then say, "This is as far as I can go." 3. Climbers, he says, are possibility thinkers, never allowing age, gender, race, physical disability or any other obstacle to get in their way. And, unlike Campers and Quitters, Climbers embrace challenges and they live with a sense of urgency. The L.E.A.D. Sequence
L = Listen to Your Response to Adversity
E = Establish Accountability A = Analyze the Evidence D = Do Something Conclusion
Every day we see people whom, despite seemingly
insurmountable odds somehow succeed. While others are pounded down by an incessant avalanche of change, these individuals are able to consistently rise up and break through, becoming more skilled and empowered as they go. Adversity doesn't create insurmountable barriers for them. Each hardship is a challenge and each challenge is an opportunity, and each opportunity is embraced. IMPORTANCE OF AQ AS FOUNDATION OF EDUCATION
Adversity Quotient is important as Foundation of Education
because it tells us how to withstand and overcome adversity. As a student as well as as a teacher, we all experience difficulty may it be on personal matter or even on our education. With AQ, we can enhance all facets of success and improve how we respond to diversity. So any misfortune we may face along the way of our education and learning may be addressed.
