 MEANING
• The state of not being equal, especially in status ,rights ,oppurtunities.
• It is a concept very much at the heart of social justice theories .
• However it is prone to confusion in public debate as it tends to mean different things to
different people.
• Some distinctions are common though.
• A formal statement of inequality between two quantities usually separated
by a sign of inequality(signifying respectively is less than, is greater than or is
not equal to).
 TYPES OF INEQUALITIES

There are so many inequalities but in our circumstances we are focusing on following
inequalities only

 Income inequality
 Gender inequality
 Political inequality
 Caste inequality
 1.INCOME INEQUALITY

Income inequality is how unevenly income

Is distributed through out the population
 Income inequality studies help to show
the disparity of incomes among different
population segments.
 When analyzing income inequality
researchers commonly study distributions
based on gender, ethnicity , geographic
location ,and occupation.
 2.GENDER INEQUALITY
• Gender inequality is discrimination
on the basis of gender causing one
gender to be routinely
privileged or prioritized over another .
• Gender inequality is a fundamental
human right and that right is violated by
gender based discrimination.
 3.POLITICAL IN EQUALITY
Political inequality is distinct form of inequality but
has yet to attract sustained, systematic
scholarly attention In the same way as its sibling
inequalities . Although political
equality is a foundation of modern democracy,
we do not Know how far from equality we are.
Even the news media rarely addresses political
inequality. We need more eyes
On the problem.
 4. CASTE INEQUALITY
Caste inequality is one of the kinds of
social inequality in which people are
Discriminated against on the basis of origin
Or caste.
1. In the basic constituent of caste system
2. Caste inequality is both hierarchical and
segmentary
3. The most detremental aspect of the caste
inequality is the practice of untouchability.
 REASONS FOR INEQUALITY
• Historical reasons –discrimination against certain sections of the society since
historic items
• Females were always treated to be subordinated and weaker to males
• Large-scale informal employment
• Agriculture sector
• Inter state inequalities
• Studies show that globalization and opening up the economy has benefited the rich more
than the poor.
• Lack of skill development and jobless growth.
