What is
matter?
• Matter is anything that
has mass and volume
• Matter is a substance
made up of various
types of particles that
occupies physical
space and has inertia
• Another essential thing to think
about is the volume in terms of
Volume
matter. The matter is defined as
anything that has mass and
occupies space. Its volume is
the amount of space it takes up.
Liquid volume is commonly
measured in liters, ounces, and
even quarts are also frequent.
Mass
• Mass is the amount of matter an
object contains. The more matter
something has, the more it will
weigh. For example, an elephant has
more matter in it than a mouse so, its
mass is heavier. What is a mass in
science? Mass (symbolized m) is a
dimensionless quantity representing
the amount of matter in a particle or
object.
What is Atom?
An atom is a particle of matter that uniquely defines
a chemical element. An atom consists of a central
nucleus that is surrounded by one or more negatively
charged electrons. The nucleus is positively charged
and contains one or more relatively heavy particles
known as protons and neutrons.
• Is the state of mater that has a
definite shape and volume.A solid
solid
can be defined as a substance which
exists in the solid state, which is one
of the four fundamental states of
matter. Solids feature closely packed
atoms whose kinetic energies are
much lower than those of liquids and
gases.
Liquid
• Is the state of matter that has a definite
volume but takes the shape of its container.A
liquid is one of the states of matter. The
particles in a liquid are free to flow, so while
a liquid has a definite volume, it does not
have a definite shape. Liquids consist of
atoms or molecules that are connected by
intermolecular bonds. At room temperature,
examples of liquids include water, mercury,
vegetable oil, ethanol.
• A gas is defined as a state
of matter consisting of
Gas
particles that have
neither a defined volume
nor defined shape. It is
one of the four
fundamental states of
matter, along with solids,
liquids, and plasma.
