Give some example of an
organic fertilizers.
KINDS OF FERTILIZERS
What are fertilizers?
Are substances which supplement nutrients that
are not available in the soil.
Fertilizers are classified as:
1. Organic fertilizers
2. Inorganic fertilizers

What is Organic Fertilizer?

Is a fertilizer that comes from plant and animal matter.

Animal manure – comes from the waste of animal such as

cow, goat, carabao etc.
Organic Fertilizer
Green manure – comes
from the leguminous plants

resulting from the process
of allowing the organic
matter to decompose in the
soil.

What is Inorganic Fertilizer?

Man-made fertilizer. Chemical products.

Inorganic fertilizers come in different forms:

1. Complete fertilizers – are fertilizers that the 3
major elements are present.
NPK. Ex. Complete fertilizer (14-14-14)
Inorganic Fertilizer
2. Incomplete fertilizer - are
fertilizers that contain only 1 or 2
major elements.

b.) Di-ammonium phosphate-

Methods of fertilizer application:

 Band application – is done by digging

furrows around each plant. (Pechay,
cabbage, citrus and some fruit trees).
Methods of fertilizer application:

 Broadcast method – it
applies in larger areas
that need several bags of
fertilizers.
Methods of fertilizer application:

Side dressing – the

fertilizers are dissolved in the
right amount of water and
sprinkled in the plants.
Methods of fertilizer application:

Foliar application – it is liquid

fertilizer that is sprayed
directly on the leaves of the
plant.
QUESTIONS:
1. Have you tried using some of the fertilizers
mentioned?
2. Was it effective or very effective?
3. Of the two fertilizers discussed, which do you
think is the best to use? Why?
4. Which is more advantageous to use?
Assignment:
