In recent years, there has been increasing concern about the impact of human
activities on the Earth’s climate, particularly through the emission of
greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which trap heat in the atmosphere
and contribute to global warming. This has led to a growing focus on reducing
greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to cleaner sources of energy, such
as solar and wind power. Additionally, many countries have signed onto
international agreements, such as the Paris Agreement, to work together to
mitigate the effects of climate change.
What is climate change?
Climate change refers to the long-term alteration of the Earth’s climate system,
including changes in temperature, precipitation patterns, sea level, and other
indicators. The main cause of climate change is the increase in greenhouse gas
emissions, such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, from human
activities like burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes. These
gases trap heat in the atmosphere, leading to a warming effect known as the
greenhouse effect.
