WHAT IS ADVERB?
- Adverb is a word that modifies a verb in a sentence.
This signifies that you can use an adverb to give a
detailed account of an action or event.
ADVERB:
-Basically, most adverbs tell you how, where or
when some thing is done. In other words, they
describe the manner, place or time of an action.
ADVERB
Example:
@ I’ve lived here for about two years.
@ English and German are closely.
@ Is marke still in the bed.
@ His children go everywhere with him.
ADVERBS OF MANNER
Some adverbs and adverb phrases describe the way people do
things.
Examples:
@ The girls answered all the questions carefully.
Examples:
@ The train has already left.
@ We moved into our new house lastt week.
@ Our favorite T.V programs starts at 6’o clock.
@ I’m going to myb new school tomorrow.
ADVERBS OF TIME
Example:
@ We shall now begin to work.
@ He called here a few minutes ago.
@ I have spoken to him yesterday.
@ He comes here daily.
@ Mr. Michael Angelo formerly lived here.
ADVERBS OF QUANTITY OR
DEGREE
It shows how much, or in what degree or to
what extent.

EXAMPLES OF ADVERBS
@ She sings sweetly.
@ He speaks quite clearly.
@ She shouts loudly.
@ She smiled cheerfully.
@ The traffic was moving slowly.

@ We waited patiently to see the doctor.

SIMPLE PREPOSITION
For example:
They are waiting for the bus.
COMPOUND PREPOSITION
For example:
The ship was at the point of break in two.
DOUBLE PREPOSITION
For example:
It is up to us to find a way out.
PARTICIPLE PREPOSITION
For example:
She works during the day and studies at night.
PHRASE PREPOSITION
Phrase preposition is a phrase like because of, by mean
of, with regard to etc.
For example:
He walked as far as he could.
GAME
Hot Adverb
Mechanics:
1. Place kids in a large circle, either on the floor or at their desks.
2. Write a sentence with one adverb on the board (for example, “I dance slowly.”)
3. Model the action in front of the class.
4. Have the class pass the ball along the circle as music plays.
5. Stop the music. Change the adverb in the sentence by choosing a new one
from a list of adverbs (for ex. “I dance happily”.)
6. The student holding the ball performs the action in the middle of the circle. If
they’re incorrect or don’t want to perform, they’re out.
7. Continue playing until you run out of adverbs or one student is left.
