Gender Discrimination:
• Gender inequality in India refers to the health, education, economic and political
inequalities between men and women in India. Various international gender
inequality indices rank India differently on each of these factors, as well as on a
composite basis, and these indices are controversial. Research shows gender
discrimination mostly in favor of men in many realms including the workplace.
Discrimination affects many aspects in the lives of women from career
development and progress to mental health disorders. While Indian laws on rape,
dowry and adultery have women's safety at heart, these highly discriminatory
practices are still taking place at an alarming rate, affecting the lives
of many today.
Reasons for gender discrimination:
• Patriarchal setup in our Indian society
• Poverty
• Illiteracy
• Social customs, beliefs and practices
• Lack of awareness among women
- Need for awareness
Violence against women :
• According to WHO(world health organization) violence is defined as the in
tensional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself,
another person, or against a group or community, that either results in or has a
high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm or deprivation.

Conclusion:
• Women empowerment is one big issue facing by india it is most important to
create awareness and understanding of the problem of women’s employment in
all the top policy and decision making. Government of India should take strategic
steps to develop and help women.
