Pulley is a modified wheel and
axle. It is used to lift loads,
apply forces and transmit
power. A pulley has rope
slipping on the groove of the
wheel.
The groove prevents the
rope from slipping while
the axle serves as the
mounting bracket that
attaches the wheels so that
it turns as the rope slides
A basic pulley comprises of a
wheel on a fixed axle, with a
groove along the edges to guide
a rope or cable
Pulleys can be found
everywhere to help make
tasks easier. In addition to
lifting things, pulleys can
be used to transport
people or things.
There are three main
types of pulleys:

hung, making the wheel

A pulley can move things from a low
area to a higher one. It has a wheel that

force. As you pull down on the rope, the
wheel turns and whatever is attached to
the other end goes up.

people against gravity.

can find a lot of machines using
