Similarity is a one to one correspondence
between the vertices of a polygon such that the
following conditions are satisfied:
• Corresponding angles are congruent
• Corresponding sides are proportional
The symbol used for similarity is ( ~ ).

Similar Polygons are polygons in which the
corresponding angles are congruent and the ratio
of the lengths of their corresponding sides are
equal.
The common ratio of the corresponding sides is
called the scale factor of the similarity or also
known as the ratio of similarity or ratio of
similitude.
