2. BACKGROUND STUDY

1. REGIONAL SETTING

• Rayagada district is one of the Southern located district in Odisha.


• Rayagada covers an area of 7584.7 sq. km.
• It is located on 83.41° E longitude and 19.17° N latitude.
• The altitude is 687 feet above mean sea level.
• It is bounded by the Kandhamal district in north, Andhra pradesh in south , Gajapati
district in the east and Koraput district in the west.

2.8 LAND UTILIZATION PATTERN
Land is a primary factor for all kinds of production. Generally 3 types of soil are found in this district such as Low, medium and high fertile soils.
