STRESS
• The condition of psychological or physiological disturbance to
normal well being of person.
• Occurs as a response to various psychological stimuli.
• Symptoms include high blood pressure, irritability, insomnia.
CAUSES
• Reasons vary from person to person.
• Major include :
• Worry or tension
• Money problems
• Exams
• Missing deadlines
• Relationship problems
• Peer pressure
EFFECTS
• Headache, loneliness, anxiety.
• Many people go in depression.
• Sleeplessness.
• Heart diseases and mental disorder.
• Appetite disorder and reduced immunity.
MENTAL HEALTH
It is defined as a state of well-being in which a person is.
A person with good mental health
• Can work productively.
• Is aware of his/her ability.
• Able is contribute to his family and community.
• Can tackle difficulties in life easily.
• Has better physical health and quality of life.
IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL HEALTH
• In a survey by mental health foundation in 2018 :
• 42% of people with mental heath problems didn’t tell their family members.
• 63% of adults know someone with mental health problem.

• Mental health is mostly neglected and taken for granted.


• It’s treatment is very costly in severe cases and causes
tremendous burden on family.
• Sometimes people choose wrong path and indulge in criminal activities.
STRESS MANAGEMENT
It is an ability to maintain control when situation, people and events make excessive
demands. Some of the ways to maintain stress are :-
 Do yoga and meditation.
 Avoid extreme reactions.
 Talk to someone.
 Try to be positive.
 Seek professional help if needed.
