The
New Man
CHRIST THE NEW MAN
AND SOCIAL LIFE
“ Therefore if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation, the old has
gone, the new has come”
2 Corinthians 5:17
During the days of Jesus’ life on
earth, he offered up prayers and
petitions with loud cries and tears to
the one who could save him from
death and he was heard because of his
reverent submission. Although he was
a son, he learned obedience from what
he suffered, and once made perfect, he
became the source of eternal salvation
for all who obey him”
I. Jesus is our Example
Jesus understood us, and showed what
to do
“For we do not have a high priest who
is unable to sympathize with our
weaknesses, but we have one who has
been tempted in every way just as we
are – yet was without sin.”
II. HOW DID HE SUCCEED?
1. Jesus had a correct relationship
with the father.
a. Jesus’devotional life showed
dependence upon God, which is
the secret to living in God’s
strength.

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the

branches. Those who remain in
me, and I in them, will produce
much fruit. For apart from me
you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
b. Prayed – often withdrew
to pray, the garden of
Gethsemane
c. Read God’s Word - he
was found discussing
scriptures in the temple as
a boy, read the scriptures in
the synagogues, quoted
scriptures against Satan
But Jesus told him, “No! The
scriptures say, “People do not
live by bread alone, but by
every word that comes from the
mouth of God.”
(Matthew 4:4)
d. Obeyed God’s Word and
God’s will.
“If you love me, obey my
commandments.”

John 14:15
1I. Jesus has a correct relationship with
Himself.
a. Jesus wasn’t down on himself.
No matter how people see you
before, it’s nothing compared to
how God see you now.
The Son is in you!
His Spirit is in you!
You are His prince/princess!!!
See yourself the way God
sees you.
b. Being true to yourself
means you don’t hand on to
the sin and old ways that
ultimately hurt you. Jesus
allowed God’s word to
become part of His life, to
renew His mind, to guard
his steps, and to transform
c. Jesus walked in God’s
purpose of His life.
1II. Jesus had a correct
relationship with others.
a. Because Jesus loved God,
and loved Himself, He could
love others.
I. We get the love to love
others from God because
God is love.
II. God commands us to love
other creations.
Jesus replied, “you must love the
Lord your God with all your
heart, all
your soul, and all your mind.
This is
the first and greatest
commandment. A second is
equally
important: Love your neighbor
as
yourself. The entire law and all
the
demands of the prophets are
III. Love treats people right.
(1 Cor 13: 4-7, Rom 13:8-10)
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not
jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
It does not demand it’s own way. It is
not irritable, and it keeps no record of
being wronged. It does not rejoice
about injustice but rejoices whenever
the truth wins out. Love never gives
up, never loses faith, is always
hopeful, and endures through every
Living in the Spirit
- doing the works of Jesus to another.
“Those who live according to the sinful
nature have their minds set on what that
nature desires; but those who live in
accordance with the Spirit have their
minds set on what the Spirit desires. The
mind of the sinful man is death, but the
controlled by the Spirit is life and
peace.”
- Romans 8:5-6
It is not how you
started this new life,
it’s how you finish it.
Walk not in the flesh
but in the Spirit.
I will not
leave you as
orphans;
I will come to
you.
