LEARNING
VARK Model of Learning:
⬢ Learning styles are a popular concept in psychology and
education and are intended to identify how people learn best.
This was the postulated through the study of Neil D. Fleming
and Coleen E. Mills in 1992.
⬢ The VARK model of learning styles suggests that there are
four main types of learners. These four key types are:
V- Visual learners
A- Auditory learners
R- Reading/writing learners
K- Kinesthetic learners

VISUAL LEARNERS
• Utilize graphic organizers such as charts,
graphs, and diagrams.
• Redraw your pages from memory.
• Replace important words with symbols or
initials.
• Highlight important key terms in
corresponding colors.

AURAL LEARNERS
• Record your summarized notes and listen to
them on tape.
• Talk it out. Have a discussion with others to
expand upon your understanding of a topic.
• Reread your notes and/or assignment out
loud.
• Explain your notes to your peers/fellow
“aural” learners.

READ AND WRITE
• Write and rewrite your words and notes.
• Reword main ideas and principles to gain
a deeper understanding.
• Organize diagrams, charts, and graphic
organizers into statements.

KINESTHETIC
LEARNERS
• Use real life examples, applications and
case studies in your summary to help with
abstract concepts.
• Redo lab experiments or projects.
• Utilize pictures and photographs that
illustrate your idea.

Multimodal Learners
• Learners may be able to learn best in
multiple learning styles.
• Studies estimate that 50 to 70 percent of
the population have affinities to several
varied learning styles (University of
Kansas School of Education, 2019).
