OF REFLECTIVE CLASS-10th-A
ROLL NO-33
SURFACE
WHAT IS REFLECTION
IT IS THE PHENOMENON OF BOUNCING BACK OF LIGHT FORM A SHINY
POLISHED SURFACE.
PROPERTIES OF REFLECTIVE
SURFACES
Spherical mirror-
1)Concave Mirror-
Light after reflection converges at a point when it strikes and reflects back from the
reflecting surface of the concave mirror. Hence, it is also termed as converging
mirror.
The image formed is real and inverted.
PROPERTIES OF REFLECTIVE
SURACES
Spherical Mirror-
2)Convex Mirror-
A convex or diverging mirror is also known as a diverging mirror as this mirror
diverges light when they strike on its reflecting surface.
Virtual, erect, and diminished images are always formed or observed with convex
mirrors, irrespective of the distance between the object and the mirror.
USES OF REFLECTIVE
SURFACES
1. CONCAVE-
Used in Shaving Mirrors
Used in Headlights
Used in Solar Furnaces
Uses by ENT Doctors and Dentist
Used in Astronomical Telescopes
Used in Torches, Flashlight and in Searchlights
USES OF SPHERICAL MIRROR
2. Convex Mirror-
Used in the rear-view mirrors of all the vehicles.
Used in spectacles and sunglasses.
Used in making magnifying glasses.
Used in street lights as they are good reflectors of light.
Used in C.C.T.V for security purpose.
