SLAVIA VK’s English Language Rowing Program

SLAVIA VK is offering a unique opportunity for


13 to 14 year old's (male and female if
numbers allow) to train and represent the
Club in regattas, culminating in the National
Championships.

We are committed to providing all


students with an opportunity to learn,
develop and excel in rowing.

We will enable students to develop


rowing skills and values shaped by the
sports demands; mental, physical, shared
goals and achievements.

The inaugural season will be commencing


Early April 2022, training towards Junior
Nationals in July and Club Nationals in
September.

The program is part of a life and sporting


education experience aiming to teach not
only the act of rowing but also the values
of others around them, determination,
resilience and perseverance.
Coaches and Endorsement
Shane Bowers – A former New Zealand multiple national champion
sweep/sculling, National under19, under23 and Elite team, World
Championships, Commonwealth silver medalist and Olympic Squad
member.

Additionally, a current Czech Olympic Team coach, pending current


national team commitments, is looking forward to commit early in the
program dependent on growth and stability.

Jiří Kejval – since 2012 Jiří has been the President of the Czech
Olympic Committee. He fully supports and endorses the English
Language Rowing Program.
Curriculum and training sessions include:
•Development and application of rowing
skills
•Fitness and conditioning
•Competition strategies  
Students as they advance also learn the
following rowing-specific content:
•Principles of training
•Leadership/teamwork
•Sport psychology
•Nutrition
•Health, wellbeing and resilience
•Applied exercise physiology
•Factors affecting performance
•Injury prevention and management
•Rowing and technology
Costs

• Currently SLAVIA VK student membership is


5000 CZK per year.

A monthly training cost of 3950 CZK per student


covers:

• 20% set aside to support exceptionally


talented athletes who might not otherwise
row due to financial constraints.

• Costs of coaching and providing specialists -


nutrition, psychology, physiology, analysis, a
minimum of 20 sessions per month.

• Additional efforts outside of students training


hours, preparation and program construction,
liaison and communication with stakeholder
groups like the rowing club, parents, students,
sponsors, supporters and coaches, not to
mention administration and maintenance
costs/time of plant and facilities.

by-case basis depending on numbers,
location, logistics, equipment, food, or
support.
