MUNDRA PORT
• It is the biggest private port of India Owned by APSEZ (Adani Ports Special
Economic Zones).
• It has 10 terminals and 24 berths available.
• It is India’s first multi product port-based special economic zones.
• Commodities handled are fertilizers, liquid cargo, agri commodities and container
cargo (coal, steel , automobiles etc.)
• Mundra port offers inland connectivity via rail, track, road network, airport and cross
country pipelines.
• Annual Cargo handling capacity is 144.4 million tonnes
• Annual container Volume 5,650,000 TEU

MUNDRA POWER PLANT
• Plant type – 4620 MW (now over 10000 MW) coal based thermal power plant,
biggest in India.
• First supercritical technology based thermal power plant approved as CDM project
by UNFCCC.
• Mundra power plant was developed in 4 phases
• Phase I – has 2 units 1 and 2 – 330 MW
• Phase II – has 2 units 3 and 4 – 330 MW
• Phase III and IV – has 2 and 3 units respectively 5,6 7,8 and 9 – 660 MW

IMPORTS
• The Mundra power plant uses coal imported from a mine in Bunyu Island, Indonesia, under
a 15 year fuel supply agreement signed with Adani Entrprises.
• Phases I and II are supplied with 4.8 mtpa of coal and Phase III with 4.24 mtpa.
• Phase IV imports 6.4 mtpa of F grade coal from Mahanadi Coalfields in Orissa, India
• The seawater from Gulf of Kutch is the source of water for closed-cycle induced draft
circulating cooling water system of the plant.
• The seawater for cooling purpose is transported using large- diameter glass reinforced pipes,
making Mundra first project plant to use such pipes.

DISTRIBUTION / SUPPLY
• Adani Power evacuates approx, 1000MW from Phase 1 to Gujarat Vitran Nigam. Similar
contract is shared between the two companies for Phase 2.
• Additional power of 221MW from Phase 2 is sold to AEL under a 15 year purchase
agreement.
• Other purchase agreement includes the supply of 1424MW from Phase4 to Uttar Harayana
Bijli Vitran under 25 year PPA’s.
• Approx 1000MW from Mundra Power is transmitted to Power Grid Corporation of India at
Dahegam, Gujarat, via 433 km long 400Kv tansmission line
• A dedicated 989 km long and 550 KV bipole, high voltage line was constructed from
Muundra to Mohinergarh Haryana with capacity of 2500MV from Phase 4.
