SCOPE OF WORK

• The purpose of this work statement for

installation of ceramic & porcelain tiles is to
outline and describe in detail the safe
procedure of tile installation including other
related activities such as layout,
delivery/handling, application of adhesive/tiles
and other related works to complete the scope.

grease, and other foreign materials either by

• Reference line must be visible at the area as a
guide during tile installation.

 3. WORK PROCEDURE

Preparation of Area

• Deployed personnel should be skilled workers to ensure

that the work done is quality assured, oriented on how to
use the power tools correctly and knows the do’s and

APPLICATION OF DRY PACK

WORK • Standard mixture of dry pack for tiling is 1
EXECUTION cement : 4 vibro sand (1:4) and enough
water to produce a mortar that will just
stick together while being molded into a
ball with the hands.
• Put the dry pack on the floor area before
installing the tiles. Spread evenly using
notch trowel.
 3. WORK PROCEDURE

Installation of Floor Tiles

• Install tiles at the center axis base on the lay out plan.
WORK Leadman/Foreman will double check if the setting out plan
EXECUTION is followed correctly. Use of proper PPE is a must (gloves,
eye goggles, safety shoes and reflectorized vest)
• Spread the tile adhesive using notch trowel on the back of
the tiles, spread properly to avoid hollow sound “kapak” of
tiles. Make sure that the tools are inspected before and
after used.
• Put 3mm plastic tile spacer to maintain correct tile spacing
prior to grout application. Don’t forget to remove the tile
spacer before adhesive settled.
• Check installed tiles for unflushed / resalte tiles, incorrect
drain pattern and incorrect shade

Installation of Floor Tiles

WORK • Clean tiles after installing another to maintain

pressing tiles on desired level and slope.
• Upon installation check the squareness of tiles,
sloping direction, uneven/resalte tiles and design
pattern tiles.
• For floor T&B & Balcony, it must be in a slope
to drain layout. Check slope to drain after
installation of tiles.

Application of Grout
• After tiles had sufficiently set, force a minimum
grout into joints by trowel, brush or finger

• Fill all joints of square edge tiles flush with the

• During grout application, wipe all excess grout off
with clean burlap, clothes or sponges
• Conduct testing of slope to drain to ensure that
there’s no water ponding
• Maintain cleanliness of the area and provide tile
protection cover (plywood or any available tile
protection).

TESTING PROCEDURE

1. Slope to drain (T&B flooring & Balcony)

Test to slope drain

Slope test with water – put the water pipe or bring 1

pail/bucket of water at the area testing, put or pour water
in it and wait for 13-5 minutes until the water flow onto the
direction of shower/floor drain and check if there’s a
ponding water on each four (4) sides of the area. (1
pail/bucket = 13-5 minutes waiting time)
TESTING PROCEDURE
