Subject + was/were (be verbs) + V1 + ing (V4) + Object

 - We use Past Continuous tense to talk about a definite (specific)

time.

Examples:

1. Ibrahim was playing basketball yesterday.

2. He was going to market.
3. I was watering the plants.
4. While I was singing, they were reading.
We use was/were and –ing form of the verb to talk about things that were
happening at some point in the past.
For Example :
• Betty was wandering when she saw the calf.
• The calf was grazing when Betty met him.
• Both were running , when I saw them.

• “was” is used with He/She/It, I and any Noun. (singular subject)
• “were” is used with you/we/they (plural).
