    On October 9, 1989, a crowd of around seventy thousand
    people demonstrated peacefully in the center of Leipzig
    demanding freedom of passage. These people dared to go
    through the feared headquarters of the Stasi, the secret
    police of the German Democratic Republic, for the first
    time.
