convincing the reader such as
editorials, advertisements,
propaganda, speeches

• The author’s purpose of giving steps


of a certain process of making or
doing something such as in recipes,
manuals, experiments, and handbooks
TO ENTERTAIN

• The author’s purpose of making the


readers laugh, cry, fall in love,
through short stories, fairy tales,
and riddles.
