SIMPLE MACHINE?
SIMPLE MACHINE
Is a device or tool that has a
simple mechanism to help you
perform work by changing the
direction and amount of force.
Show some pictures
and let the pupils
identify if simple
machines or not.

Inclined Plane- is a flat
surface raised at one end. It
is used to move things to a

pull, and lift or raise load with less effort

Three parts of Lever


1. Fulcrum
2. Force or effort arm
3. Load or resistance
Pulley- is a simple
machine that changes
the direction of the force
Screw- it is wrapped around
a cylinder or round object.
It is used to hold, pull or
push with great force.
Wedge- is a double inclined
plane put back to back. It is
used for piercing, cutting,
and splitting objects with a
small force.
Wheel and Axle- two
circular objects, one
larger than the other. It is
a force multiplier.
3. Why do we
use simple
machines?
We use simple
machine to make our
work easier and faster.
4. Why are simple
machines
important?
Simple machines are important
because they reduce effort or
extend the ability of people to
perform tasks beyond their
normal capabilities
Some machines
are so simple that we
do not even realize
that they are
machines.
