Now as they went on their
way, Jesus entered a village.
And a woman named Martha
welcomed him into her house.

And she had a sister called
Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet
and listened to his teaching.
Luke 10:40
But Martha was distracted with
much serving. And she went up to
him and said, "Lord, do you not
care that my sister has left me to
serve alone? Tell her then to help
me."
Luke 10:41
But the Lord answered her,
"Martha, Martha, you are
anxious and troubled about
many things,
Luke 10:42
but one thing is necessary. Mary
has chosen the good portion,
which will not be taken away
from her." ESV

Mary of Bethany is seen three
times in the Gospel record, and
on each occasion, she is in the
same place:
at the feet of Jesus.

thief, and having charge of the
moneybag he used to help himself to
what was put into it.

Jesus said, "Leave her alone, so that
she may keep it for the day of my
burial.

For the poor you always have with
you, but you do not always have me."
CONCLUSION
In each of these instances, there is
some kind of fragrance:
1. In Luke 10, it is food
2. In John 11, it is death (John 11:39)
3. In John 12, it is perfume.
CONCLUSION
3 times Mary was found at the feet of Jesus:
1. She sat at His feet and listened to His
Word.
2. She fell at Jesus’ feet and shared her woe.
3. She came to His feet and poured out her
worship
