LIMOUSIN
• The golden-red breed are native to
the south central part of France in
the regions of Limousin and
Marche. From the initial U.S.
concentrations in Oklahoma, Texas,
and South Dakota, the Limousin
breed has expanded across North
America. Today, there are more
than a million registered head
here. The tremendous carcass
traits of the breed have attracted
the full attention of the entire beef
industry.
TEXAS LONGHORN

• The Texas Longhorn is the end


product of “survival of the fittest”.
 Brought by Christopher Columbus
and the Spanish colonists, the
cattle breed is known for its
characteristic horns, which can
extend to over 1.8 m tip to tip for
bulls, and 2.1 m tip to tip for steers
and exceptional cows. Texas
Longhorns are known for their
diverse coloring, and can be any
color or mix of colors, but dark red
and white are the most dominant.
Vest land Fjord Cattle
• Also Known By: Vestlandsk fjordfe, Fjord, West
Coast Fjord, Westland Horned, Western fjord
cattle
• This is a non-commercial rare breed with a
registered population of 100 heifer (2 years
and younger) and 214 cows as of January 1995.
• The Vestland Fjord can be horned or polled,
multicoloured dual purpose cow that is
common to the fjord area of Western Norway.
It is short-legged and small-boned. It is the
smallest of the native Norwegian breeds. It is a
relatively efficient milk yielder for its size,
producing approximately 4000 kg a year on a
high roughage diet.
ANGUS
• aberdeen angus cattle are naturally polled and can be
black or red in colour although black is the dominant
colour, white may occasionally appear on the udder.
• originally from  SCOTLAND
• they are resistant to harsh weather, undemanding,
adaptable, good natured, mature extremely early and
have a high carcass yield with nicely marbled meat. 
• angus are renowned as a carcass breed. they are
used widely in crossbreeding to improve carcass
quality and milking ability. angus females calve easily
and have good calf rearing ability
•  they are also used as a genetic dehorner as the
polled gene is passed on as a dominant characteristic.

BRANGUS

originated in Louisiana, USA.
• brangus cattle are black or red, polled, with a
sleek coat and pigmented skin.
•  their ears are medium to large and the skin is
loose, with neck folds. the rump is slightly
rounded, and the bulls have a moderate hump.

• this breed is considered to be very versatile
being high performers on pasture and in the
feed yard and have also proven resistant to
heat and high humidity.
