Organizational change is any substantive
modification to some part of the
organization which is usually executed by
organizational members who collaborate
with change agents.
(Griffin, 2010)

21st Century Context.
Organization development of 21st century is about focusing on
change in the entire organizational system. It means focusing
on change in strategy, systems, structure and processes and
being able to identify the interconnects and interdependence
of those changes.

It is about focusing on building effectiveness through the


engagement of employees in problem solving, decision
making, innovation and sharing knowledge. It is about to co-
creation and emergence.

• Streamlining
Management structures by discarding failed matrix and ad hoc approaches and narrowing
the scope of the line manager’s role to the creation of current earnings.

• Deploying
Deploying off-line teams to discover new wealth-creating opportunities while using a
dynamic management process to resolve short-and long-term trade-offs.

• Developing
Developing knowledge marketplaces, talent marketplaces, and formal networks to stimulate
the creation and exchange of intangibles.

Relying on measurements of performance rather than supervision to get the most from self-

The modern world is becoming increasingly knowledge-intensive, global, fast-paced,
diverse, and organic. With the rapid speed of technical advances, globalization,
financial changes, re-engineering, mergers and acquisitions, companies work
continuously in flux.

Imagination, intuition, and integrative thinking are becoming increasingly essential to
find new ways to overcome some of the organizational challenges of the 21st
