SAFETY

PRECAUTIONS IN
AQUATIC
ACTIVITIES
GROUP ONE
AT THE END OF THIS
LESSON,YOU SHOULD BE
ABLE TO:

Explain the safety precautions of aquatic

activities;

Suggest ways about safety precautions.

Water workouts are healthy and
Let's Warm Up improve fitness by increasing
endurance, agility, and strength while
supporting weight loss efforts.

Exercising in a swimming pool also

protects bones and joints from the
effects of high-impact exercise.

However, there are essential water

safety precautions to
take to decrease the chance of injury
or drowning.
WHAT TO DO WHEN THESE
PROBLEMS OCCUR:
WHEN MASK IS FILLED WITH WATER:
When the mask works with a purge valve, just blow air in the nose as long as the mask is
ready. The water is removed from the valve and the mask is cleared. If the mask has no
purge valve, just take the head out of the water and bring it forward. The opening on the
bottom of the mask is created and the water is drained. You should still clear the water
while underwater. Only push the top of the mask and blow out through the nose. The air
bubbles in a mask push the water out of the ground.
WHAT TO DO WHEN THESE
PROBLEMS OCCUR:
WHEN WATER IS FILLED IN THE SNORKEL:
Snorkeling is an essential skill and water is inevitable for snorkeling. Waves or splashes can
push water to the snorkel's open end or to under-surface diving.
Release the snorkel by blasting the snorkel to force the water out. If the snorkel has an
exhaust pipe, water leaves the valve below the mouthpiece. The simple displacement is
another form. This is for snorkeling with a drain valve. Start by looking straight up, then
exhale a little air into the snorkel. When you go up, the air expands and moves the water so
that nearly all the water can get out of the tunnel before you hit the surface.
WHAT TO DO WHEN THESE
PROBLEMS OCCUR:
PRESSURE IS FELT IN THE EAR WHILE DIVING:
Pressure increases as the surrounding water pressure becomes more deeply pushed or
compressed into the airspaces of the body. The pressure outside the gap of the ear is
higher than the pressure inside it which gives an unpleasant feeling in the ears. Use the
pinch-blow nose procedure to equalize this strain. Close your mouth, squeeze your nose,
and softly blow the plugged nose out of air. A crackling sound is heard, and the pressure
decreases. The punching of the jaw side by side frequently facilitates equalization.
