This document describes a smart car parking system that was developed by students at Uttara University in Bangladesh. The system uses IR sensors to detect vehicles entering and exiting the parking area and a servo motor controlled gate. It also includes an LCD display to show available parking spots. When a vehicle approaches, the IR sensor detects it and opens the gate if a spot is available. The number of available spots is tracked and displayed. The goal is to make parking more efficient and reduce driver frustration over finding an open spot.

One of the most problems that the driver faces is finding a free parking spot , so many driver stopping their cars at the edges of the street Therefor, we choose this project to prevent the frustration of finding a parking spot and they can reserve a spot when they stay at home. Arduino Nano IR Sensor Servo Motor 20*4 LCD Display
Power Supply Bread Board
Arduino Nano The Arduino Nano is a small, complete, and breadboard- friendly board based on the ATmega328P released in 2008. It offers the same connectivity and specs of the Arduino Uno board in a smaller form factor.[1] The Arduino Nano is equipped with 30 male I/O headers, in a DIP-30-like configuration, which can be programmed using the Arduino Software integrated development environment (IDE), which is common to all Arduino boards and running both online and offline. IR Sensor An IR proximity sensor works by applying a voltage to a pair of IR light-emitting diodes (LEDs) which in turn, emit infrared light. This light propagates through the air and once it hits an object it is reflected towards the sensor. Servo Motor A servomotor (or servo motor) is a rotary actuator or linear actuator that allows for precise control of angular or linear position, velocity, and acceleration.[1] It consists of a suitable motor coupled to a sensor for position feedback. It also requires a relatively sophisticated controller, often a dedicated module designed specifically for use with servomotors. Servomotors are not a specific class of motor, although the term servomotor is often used to refer to a motor suitable for use in a closed-loop control system. 16*2 LCD Display A 16x2 LCD means it can display 16 characters per line and there are 2 such lines. In this LCD each character is displayed in 5x7 pixel matrix. This LCD has two registers, namely, Command and Data. This is standard HD44780 controller LCD. Working Principle 1. Firstly total number of car is zero so the gate will be open if any car is present in front of the IR sensor. 2. In the entrance there is an IR sensor which can sense the entry of a new car and it will automatically increase the total number of car from zero to one. 3. There is an IR sensor on the exit point which will subtract one from the value of total number of car if any car goes out. If the total number of car is 4, then the IR sensor will not open the gate. 4. Because the maximum limit of car is 4.There are four parking lot on the parking zone with IR sensors attached to each parking lot. 5. If any car take place to one of the parking lot then the sensor will send command to show the lcd. 6. In this situation when a car will try to move from the parking lot there will be a subtraction and printed to lcd display. Result All the programming is done by the Arduino IDE and the program is loaded in to the Arduino board. After interfacing of all components according to the circuit diagram we get the desired output We have successfully completed our project.
All Slot Empty Parking Gate open after car detect
Parking Gate close after car out
Outlook Advantages 1. There is a greater sense of security due to the fact that patrons do not actually walk to and from their own space. 2. It is highly feasible for extremely small sites that are unable to accommodate a conventional ramped parking structure. 3. There is high parking efficiency (i.e. sf/space and cf/space). 4. There is no need for driving while looking for an available space. Emissions are greatly brought down and reduced. 5. The patrons wait for their car in a highly controlled environment. There are less chances for vehicle vandalism. 6. There is a minimal staff requirement if it is used by known parkers. It is possible that the retrieval time is lower than the combined driving/parking/walking time in conventional ramped parking structures. Disadvantages 1. There is a greater construction cost per space (but this may be offset by the chance for lesser land costs per space and the system manufacturers say that the operating and maintenance cost will be lower as compared to a conventional ramped parking structure). 2. Use of redundant systems will result in a greater cost. 3. It may be a bit confusing for unfamiliar users. Future Work
• In future we add IoT with this system.
• In future we add automatic billing system. • In future we add mobile app for advance reservation. Conclusion
The proposed system reduce drive frustration and traffic by providing
nearest parking area and available slot. As smart parking system increase the service levels in operation, there is a lot of scope for innovations and implementation through data standardization and management. Basically smart car parking system save time, money, space and help to simplify the often tedious task of parking. Thank You
