Sustainability - The Great
Transformation
Sustainable development is
moving away from the linear
economy towards a circular
economy, simultaneously
cutting back on
overconsumption and rapidly
reducing CO2 emissions.
What could we as
students do to live more
sustainably?
Sustainability means less is Sustainable living does not
mean that we have to live

always better.
Students who want to live more
sustainably should consider
incorporating „reduce, reuse,
recycle“ concept into their daily
lives as it is the most
fundamental piece if you wish to
live sustainable lifestyle.
Reduce
We all inevitably produce
waste. It is a part of
modern living, but there
are some things that we
can do to reduce the
amount of waste we
produce, such as:
Stop relying on plastic and paper!
Most students buy takeaway food, but the
packaging can generate a lot of waste, so if you
do buy takeaway, make sure the restaurant
uses eco- friendly packaging, or better yet –
refrain from buying at at all! It will not only
benefit the environment, but your health and
finances too.

Same goes for beverages. In

addition to reusable cups, you
should also consider a flask bottle
for beverages. Paper cups from
various coffee shops are just as
bad as plastic ones!
What our school students do to reduce
Each year our school students participate in various activities related with reducing waste, such as:

GREEN OLIMPYCS Durning this summer project, we observe nature, collect

rubbish and sort it. We monitor and study how much and
what kind of waste we collect.

During this competition, students develop ecological

awareness, and the understanding of circular economy, Mission CLEAN SUMMER
responsible consumption, waste management.
What our school students do to reduce the usage of electricity

Our school is filled with these little stickers, their We are also saving energy by having solar
purpose is to remind students to save electricity panels and energy-saving lamps in every area
and water of the school.
Better transport

We are encouraged to use bicycles or take a walk

instead of public trasport

Thankfully we are located near the longest river in Lithuania

– Nemunas and its wonderful trail which provides
excellent conditions for Nordic walking.
Before buying any new clothes, we should think if we
Reuse really need to purchase 10–12 different colors? or
different patterns? or designs?

Instead we should purchase clothes from second hand

shops, or swap them with friends or family!

Clothing can also serve many purposes, so we shouldn‘t

throw away unworn, bad, or old clothes; they can be
used in other handicrafts or household chores. An good
alternative is donating clothes for somebody in need.
Reusing – one of our most By reusing we successfuly create amazing art

motivates adaptation to a more
sustainable lifestyle.
To conclude, the most important thing we,
as students, can do is to spread awareness,
educate ourselves and others about
sustainability and how it is important to do
at least minimal things to help our planet.
