 What is Credit Card Fraud ?

 Credit card fraud refers to a scammer using your

credit card number and PIN or your stolen credit
card for financial transactions from your account
and without your knowledge.
 Credit Card Fraud is one of the major threads in
the financial industry. Due to the covid-19
pandemic and the advance in technologies, the
number of users is increasing, with the increased
use of credit cards. Due to more use of credit
cards, Fraud cases also increase day by day.
OBJECTIVE
 To prevent credit card fraud using integration
of biometrics during online transactions.
Reasons of Credit Card Fraud
 Skimming- Credit card skimming is a type of theft where
the thief makes use of a device, known as a skimmer and
steals the information of a credit card.
 Hacking- Thieves can hack companies with whom you
have had transactions that perform credit card processing
activities. They will then engage in data breaches.
 Dumpster diving- When you discard your bills or
documents with your full credit card number on them,
thieves can retrieve these details and commit fraud.
 Phishing- It includes the persuading of consumers to
provide their sensitive data by tricking them by the
scammers.

Problem
 There are a variety of tools and techniques available for
detecting fraud, with most merchants employing a
combination of several of them.
 Currently credit card companies are able to recognize
fraudulent credit card transactions so that customers
are not charged for items that they did not purchase.
 For preventing credit card fraud for physical
transactions, Biometrics credit cards already exist but
how can we prevent fraud during online transactions.
