The Internet Of Things
History of IoT
• The term “Internet Of
Things” is coined by
Kevin Ashton in 1999.
What is IoT

• Is the network of physical object or “things”

embedded with electronics, software, sensors
and network connectivity which enables these
objects to collect and exchange data.
• Refers to the collective network of connected
devices and the technology that facilitates
communication between devices and the cloud
as well as between the devices themselves.
What is IoT
• A “thing” in the context of the internet of things (IoT), is an entity or
physical object that has an unique identifier, an embedded system and the
ability to transfer data over a network
• These devices collect useful data with the help of various existing
technologies and then autonomously flow the data between other devices.
Functions Of an IoT device
• However, all complete IoT systems are
the same in that they represent the
integration of four distinct components:
1. sensors/devices,
2. connectivity,
3. data processing,
4. and a user interface.

How IoT works?
Collect Communicate Analyze Act / Respond

• Devices • Sending data • Creating • Take action

and through informatio or respond
sensors are networks to n from the back based
collecting some destination data on the
data • Cloud platform, • Visualizing gathered
everywher private data the data, information
e. center, home building and data.
• At your network reports
home,
office, car
Why IoT?
• Accessible
• Convenient
• Improved communication between connected electronic
devices
• Save time and save cost
• Automation
• Improved quality
Application Of IoT
• Commercial use
• Building and home automation
• Medical and Healthcare systems
• Environmental monitoring
• Energy management
• Transportation
What is Digital Footprint?
• It is an unique data trace of a user’s activities, actions, communications or
transactions in digital media.
• This data trace can be left on the internet, computers, mobile devices or other
mediums.
• A user can leave digital footprint either actively or passively, but once shared, a
digital footprint is almost permanent in nature.
• Active :  Eg, social media activities, online chatting, phone calls or blog posts.
• Passive : Eg, searching the internet, browsing websites, online purchases, online
forms or online surveys.
What is Infographics?
• An infographic example is a visual representation of information.
• Infographics examples include a variety of elements, such as images,
icons, text, charts, and diagrams to convey messages at a glance
