GEOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT

NAME :- GUNJAN VISHWAKARMA

CLASS. :- 9TH B
ROLL NO.:-. 9224
SUBJECT. :- GEOGRAPHY
TEACHER :- SACHIN PAUL
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

• From where I got idea for this assignment?

• I got idea about this project from Google and I got images of metrological
instrument from Google too and my mother also gave me some ideas for
making this assignment more creative.
• I want to thank them all for helping me.
TOPIC

• Explain maximum six Metrological instruments and their uses

• Maximum six and minimum thermometer, Mercury barometer, ancroid
barometer, wind vane, anemometer, rain guage, hydrometer.
INTRODUCTION FOR TOPIC

• In this topic we will get more information about Metrological instruments

like thermometer, Mercury barometer, hydrometer etc , and we will get to
know about how they works and importance of them
TYPES OF METROLOGICAL INSTRUMENTS
1. THERMOMETER

• A thermometer is an instrument that measures temperature. It can measure

the temperature of a solid such as food the temperature of a solid such as
food, a liquid such as water, or a gas such as air. The three most common
units of measurement for temperature are Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin.
The Celsius scale is part of the metric system.
2. MERCURY BAROMETER

• A mercury barometer is used to calibrate and check aneroid barometers.

Calibration can be ,for example, in terms of atmospheric pressure or attitude
altitude about sea level. The concept of altitude about sea level, based on
barometric pressure, is used to create one type of aircraft altimeter.
3. ANEROID BAROMETER

• A non liquid barometer called the aneroid barometer Is widely used in

portable instruments and in aircraft altimeters because of its smaller size and
convenience. It contains of flexible-walled evaculated capsule, the wall of
which deflects with changes In atmospheric pressure. This deflection is
coupled mechanically to an indicating needle.
4. WIND VANE

• A wind vane is used for measuring the direction of wind. It is used to predict
the intensity of storms.it is used in disaster management to protect people
from strong winds.they are sometimes called whethervanes and were a
common sight on top of barns and churches in the past.
5. ANEMOMETER

• An anemometer is an instrument that measures wind speed and wind

pressure. Anemometer are important tools for meteorologist, who study
whether patterns.they are also important to the work of physicists, who
studies the way air moves. It is used to check the quality of the wind.it is also
used to check the direction of the wind.
6. RAIN GUAGE

• A Rain guage is a meteorological instrument to measure the precipitating rain

in a given amount of time per unit area. The instrument consist of a collection
container which is placed in an open area. It also helps to critically mark
drought areas.
7. HYGROMETER

• Hydrometer, instrument used in metrological science to measure the

humidity, or amount of water vapour in the air. Several major types of
hygrometers are used to measure humidity. It is also used in measuring
amount of water vapour in air . It is also used in incubators. It is also used in
taking care of wooden musical instruments like guitars and violins.
OBJECTIVES

• Mercury Barometer
• Aneroid Barometer
• Wind vane
• Anemometer
• Rain guage
• Hygrmeter
• Thermometer
EXPLANATION

• In this topic I explained about Types of metrological instruments

likeThermometer, Mercury barometer, hydrometer, ancroid barometer, wind
vane, anemometer rain guage and Hygrometer. I also explain about their uses
and advantages.
CONCLUSION

• In conclusion we will get to know about that meteorological instruments are

very useful for us in many ways. They are the instruments which makes our
work is easier. And we also observe that all the instruments are referred by
people who studied geography.
BIBLIOGRAPHY

What is bibliography?
Bibliography means reference
For this project I referred PowerPoint presentation app in mobile to make
whole project and it worked wonderful. For Information about metrological
instruments I referred Google. I also found images of metrological instruments
from Google.
