GROUP BEHAVIOUR
Group :
 A Group is basically an assemblage of people.
It can be understood as a collection of individuals (two or
more), who come together and interact with each other, so as to
achieve the objectives of the organization. 

Example : A group of people working together under a trust.


Group Behavior :
Group Behavior refers goal behaving in the same way, which might
be different from how they to people with a similar would normally
behave if they were alone or as individuals.  

It is the type of behavior that takes place when individuals act


together or collectively.

Formal Groups :
 Formal groups are created to achieve specific organizational objectives.

 Formal groups is purposely designed to accomplish an organization task or


objective .

 The formal group exists in all organizations, and they can be temporary or
permanent.

Permanent groups help organizations achieve their goal and run the
organization, while temporary groups help achieve short-term objectives.

COMMAND GROUP TASK GROUP


1. Command Group: These groups are permanent and exist in every
organization . They can be called sections or departments.

Ex: A manager and his or her immediate subordinate.

2.Task Group: This group is temporary and related to achieve a


specific task. Usually, these groups consist of influential stakeholders.

Ex: Search committee for a new school superintendent, Task force on


new product quality
Informal Groups :

 Informal groups are based more on personal relationships and the agreement
of group members than on defined role relationships.

 They serve to satisfy psychological and social needs not necessarily related to
the tasks to be undertaken.

Any group that does not belong to a formal organization is called an informal
group

Interest group :
People working together to attain a specific objective with which is
concerned .

Friendship group :
People brought together because they share common interest .
Draws benefits from social relations among its members .
