WHAT IS OSMOTIC PRESSURE OVERVIEW OF OSMOSIS

Osmosis is the process by which

water passes from a low to a high
solute concentration through a
semipermeable membrane. It is
crucial for the survival of all living
things since it assists in controlling
the concentration of solutes, enabling
cells to keep their structure and
functionality. Medicine, food
preservation, and water purification
are among real-world uses for
osmosis.

Purpose, objective of the study
To study how different concentrations of solutes affect the state and measuring
and studying the changes the size, and weight of salt, we can make conclusions
about the effect of changes in the concentration of dissolved substances on
potato.
1) Researched information about osmosis.
2) Collected correct items for our experiment.
3) Executed our experiment 3 to 4 times.
4) Got correct measurements using scale and ruler.

Experiments with bending potatoes in salt water showed that

water moves out of the potatoes through osmosis, making them
more flexible. Tests 1 and 2 had the same results, both showing
100% bending of potatoes with no gaps in 5 tablespoons of salt
water.
y=-0.09x+3 y=-0.09x+2.65 y=-0.1x+2.5
Conclusion
Chemistry: If the concentration of NaCl is greater than the one in Computer science:
the potato, the water from the potato will exit the potato to create
an equilibrium. Thus, the potato shrinks.

Biology: The cell membrane of potatoes functions as a semi-

permeable membrane, allowing water molecules ton enter and
exit the cell. A potato will shrink and become flaccid when placed
in a solution that contains more solutes than it does.

Physics: Water is moved through a semipermeable membrane

through osmosis, that balances the concentration of solutes on
both sides by moving from a region of high concentration to an
area of low concentration.
