INTRODUCTION
A cash converter is programming code that is intended to change one money into
another all together over to check its relating esteem. The code is commonly a piece
of a site or it frames a portable application and it depends on current market or bank
trade rates.
To change over one cash into another, a client enters a measure of cash (for
example '1000') and picks the cash he/she wishes to check the money related
estimation of (for example 'US Dollar'). From that point forward, the client chooses
one, or some of the time a few different monetary forms, he/she might want to see
the outcome in. The application programming at that point computes and shows the
comparing measure of cash.
Money converters expect to keep up continuous data on current market or bank
trade rates, so the determined outcome changes at whatever point the estimation of
both of the segment monetary standards does. They do as such by interfacing with
an information base of current cash trade rates.
LITERATURE SURVEY
1. A paper naming “Method and system for delivering foreign exchange risk
management” was done by Lois Scheirer and it was published in Dec 2001.

2. A paper naming “System and method for generating and executing foreign
exchange losses” was published in Oct 2000. The authors were Jay S. Walker, James A.
Jorasch In this paper they suggest a system and method for providing a foreign
exchange insurance policy that automatically considers factors such as the type of
currency, exchange rate, amount of coverage, and period of coverage, to determine a
premium. Users can access the system using credit cards, ATMs, banks or other
media.

3. A paper naming “Algorithmic Trading in the Foreign Exchange Market” was

published in Sept 2014. The authors were Alain P.Chaboud, Benjamin Chiquoine,
Erik Hjalmarsson and Clara Vega.
PROBLEM STATEMENT &
METHODOLOGY
Currency Recognition and converter system is implemented to reduce human
power to automatically recognize the amount of currency and convert it into the other
currency without human supervision. Previously, human is needed to recognize the
amount of the currency and convert it manually. So this project is developed to replace
human power to recognize the amount of the currency.
METHODOLOGY
Image Processing Phase
The methodology include convert the image, crop the region of interest (ROI), dilation method,
erosion method, threshold, compliment the image and applied some parameters to calculate the
value of area boundaries to distinguish each character of number in the image

Image Acquisition
The image was captured using a webcam with 1.3 megapixels (Logitech QuickCam E3500 Plus).
The images were taken under natural daylight or with lighting from pendaflour lamp.

Captured Images
As the first step in the flow chart, the image of the money was captured by using webcam.

Developed Data Extraction Program

This stage includes many steps and it is a key step in currency recognition system, which
influences the accuracy of the system significantly. This is very critical stages and need a long time
to go through.

Development of Converter System

The value of each currency is different from each other according to their parameters of boundaries
and areas. This is easy to distinguish them from each other.
METHODOLOGY
Display The Amount Of The Currency
The recognition amount of the currency and the converted amount are displayed on the Graphical
User Interface (GUI). GUI is type of user interface which allows people to interact with the
software or device. This will helps users to easily used this program. It also provided user friendly
environment.
