WHAT IS JAPAN?

 Japan is an island country in East Asia.


 The Japanese archipelago is a group
of 14,125 islands that form the country
of Japan.
 Japan is the eleventh most populous
country in the world.
 According to the Statistical Bureau of
Japan, the population of Japan as of
May 2022 is at 125.05 million, including
foreign residents.
JAPAN´S FLAG

 This flag is officially called the Nisshōki


( 日章旗 , 'flag of the sun’) .
 But in Japan it is more commonly
known as Hinomaru ( 日の丸 , 'Ball of
the sun')
 It embodies the country`s nickname:
the Land of the Rising Sun.
 According to protocol, the flag may fly
from sunrise until sunset
JAPAN´S LANGUAGE

 There are 3 types of alphabets in


Japan: Hiragana, Katakana and kanji.
 Hiragana being the easiest one in
translate means ˝simple˝.
 The word katakana means
"fragmentary kana˝.
 The term kanji in Japanese literally
means "Han characters". It is written
in Japanese by using the same
characters as in traditional Chinese.
JAPAN`S ART AND
ARCHITECTURE

 This is one of the most popular


paintings in japan, its name is : The
Great Wave off Kanagawa.
 It has been tilted as "possibly the
most reproduced image in the
history of all art„
 The artist of this masterpiece is
Katsushika Hokusai.
 He created the picture in late 1831
during the Edo period.
JAPAN´S CURRENCY

 The yen is the official currency


of Japan.
 It is widely used as third reserve
currency after the US dollar and the
euro.
 For an example, 100 yen is 0.70
euros .
 It was made by Ōkuma Shigenobu
who at first made the coins square
shaped but changed them to circles
afterwards.
MANGA
 Manga are comics or graphic
novels originating from Japan.
 In Japan, people of all ages of life
read manga.
 One of the most popular authors
are Eichiro Oda and Miura Kentaro.
 Sadly, manga creation is a very
underpaid job in japan.
 In japan every year they spend
more paper to make manga then
toilet paper.
ANIME

 Anime is a hand-drawn and


computer generated animation
originating from Japan.
 The first ever anime was created in
1907.
 For anime its the same as manga,
takes a whole team and is very
underpaid.
 Some of the best and most popular
anime studios are Mappa and
Ufotable.

 Most famously known transportaion


in Japan is a train called the bullet
train.
 It has been operating for 58 years
and hasnt had a single accident.
 The maximum operating speed is
320 km/h.
 When it was put to the test of high it
can go the train reached a huge
number of 443 km/h.
THE HIGH QUALITY OF
EDUCATION

 Japan has one of the best-educated


populations beacuse of its 100%
enrollment in compulsory grades.
 An average gpa of a highschooler
in Japan is minimally4.0.
 Students have dress
codes(uniforms), women wear
dresses and skirts while the men
wear suits.
AMAZING FOOD

 One of the most famous foods in


japan that we also have here are:
sushi, tempura, tofu and ramen.
 Most of the time the food is packed
in little boxes or bowls, depending
on the dish.
 A very big percentage of food they
eat is sea food which is the reason
why Jpanese people live very long.
 Fruit is very expensive in Japan.
TONS OF
ENTERTAINMENT

 Japan is famous for being so extra


and exciting.
 Japan is filled with huge shopping
malls that are filled with stuff being
the latest fashion to having smart
household electronics.
 The biggest mall in Japan is called
Aeon Lake Town, it consists of 3
buildings and has 700 plus storys.
SUPER CLEAN AND
ORGANISED

 In Buddhisam and Japanese Shintoism,


cleanliness has historically been
regarded as an important part of
religious pracitice.
 They are very organised people, they
have lines and formations for every
little thing.
 In some schools students are the ones
doing the cleaning.

THE LANGUAGE
BARRIER

 Japanese language is ranked to be


the hardest language to learn for
native english speakers.
 It takes about 88+ weeks to speak
it to a medium level.
 Most people come really
unprepapred for Japan that they
expect everyone to speak english
or they just use google translate.
BIG SUICIDAL RATE

 Suicide is a very common thing in


Japan.
 Every year there is about 20000+
sucides, 70% are male employees
around the age 20-44.
 The most famous spot where
people go is the Aokigahara which
lays at the base of Mt. Fuji.
VERY HIGH LIVING
COST

 Some of the world's most expensive


land can be found in central Tokyo,
which contributes to its reputation of
being an expensive city.
 Eating out is a very common thing
in Japan, that is one of the bigger
expenses they do.
 Food by itself is very expensive,
especially fruit, fruit over there is a
very exotic thing, some people even
buy a basket of fruit as a gift to
somoene becasuse of its high cost.
NATURAL DISASTERS

 Japan is known for there strong


earthquakes and tsunamis.
 The strongest earthquake was back
in 1923 called the Great Kanto
earthquake which waas followed by
a tsunami.
 It took 105,358 lives.
 Approximately 1500 earthquakes
per year happen in Japan.
