continuation
OBJECTIVE

 Find the measures of the unknown angles or

arcs using the theorems on inscribed angles.
What is an inscribed angle?

How to find the measure of an

inscribed angle?

INSCRIBED ANGLES IN THE SAME ARC THEOREM.

Two or more angles A

inscribed in the same
arc or in congruent arcs
are congruent. O
B
D

Both and are inscribed

in , then . C
EXAMPLE Find:
a.
Given circle P
The measure of the central ∠QPR is
with m∠QPR=100°
S equal to its intercepted . Thus,
T mQR=m∠QPR=100°.
b. m∠QSR
The inscribed ∠QSR intercepts
P
100° arc QR. So,
m∠QSR=mQR=(100°)= 50°
Q R
EXAMPLE
Given circle P c. m∠QTR
with m∠QPR=100°
S Since ∠QTR intercepts the
T same arc as ∠QSR and both are
inscribed angles,
m∠QTR=m∠QSR= 50°
P
100°

EXAMPLE Find:
a. m
B C The measure of the central ∠AED is
equal to its intercepted . Thus,
m=m∠AED= 164°.
E b.
164°
The inscribed ∠ABD intercepts .
A D
So, m∠ABD=m=(164°)= 82°
EXAMPLE
B C c.
Since ∠ACD intercepts the
same arc as ∠ABD and both are
inscribed angles,
E
164° m∠ACD=m∠ABD= 82°

Find x
4x + 8 = 2x + 30
4x – 2x = 30-8
2x = 22
x = 11
1.Find x
EXAMPLE

L M
8x x=4
+ 20
Find the following:
P 7x +
10 a. ∠OLN = 8x+20= 8(4) + 20 = 52°
O N
b. ∠ONL = 7x+10= 7(4) + 10 = 38°
1.Find x
EXAMPLE

L M
8x x=4
+ 20
Find the following:
P = 2(m∠OLN)=2(52)= 104°
7x +
10 c. m
O N
d. m = 2(m∠N)=2(38)= 76°
e. m = 180°
