“On a rainy day”

On a rainy day, I had to stop by at a bus stop until the rain stopped. I found out

that there was an old lady at the corner of the bus stop and she seemed to be

really cold and her body was trembling. I immediately took off my jacket and gave

it to her. She looked me up with wide and amazed eyes and said two wonderful

words, “Thank you.”

● Phrasal verbs are made up of a verb and a participle, such as an adverb or

prepositions.

Eg. stop by - I stop by the bus stop.

● Some phrasal verbs have two participles.

Eg. run out of - Our car has run out of gas.

● Some phrasal verbs can be separated. They are called separable phrasal verbs.

Eg. take off - I take off my jacket. / I take my jacket off.

● Some phrasal verbs cannot be separated. They are called inseparable phrasal verbs.

Eg. get in - I get in the car.
