ILLUSTRATES AN
EXPERIMENTAL
PROBABILITY AND A
THEORETICAL PROBABILITY
(FORMULATES PROBLEMS
INVOLVING PROBABILITIES
OF SIMPLE EVENTS).
OBJECTIVES:

• DIFFERENTIATED
EXPERIMENTAL
THEORETICAL
PROBABILITY
• SOLVE THE EXPERIMENTAL
PROBABILITY
• USES THE CONCEPT OF
PROBABILITY IN REAL LIFE
PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY: Jumbled Letters! <3

1. IOIBBAPTRYL - infers to how likely something is to happen

PROBABILITY

2. NXLEAMIEPERT - is of; relating to or based on experience or experiment

EXPERIMENTAL

3. RAOTFELMU - to create or devise methodically in a systematic way

FORMULATE

4. HOCTIELEART – based on or calculated through theory rather than

experience or practice
THEORETICAL
Probability

The chance of a happening is

named as the probability of the
event happening. It tells us how
likely an occasion is going to
happen; it doesn’t tell us what’s
happening. There is a fair chance
of it happening (happening/not
happening).
They’ll be written as decimals or
fractions. The probability of
occurrence A is below.
NOW, THERE ARE 2 TYPES OF PROBABILITIES:

Experimental Probability

The probability that’s

supported by repeated trials
of an experiment is named
an experimental probability.

Example: The table shows

the results of spinning a
penny 62 times. What’s the
probability of spinning
heads?
Theoretical Probability

When all possible outcomes are

equally likely the theoretical
possibility of an incident is that
the quotient of the number of
favorable outcomes and
therefore the number of possible
outcomes.
Example:
You randomly choose one among the
letters shown. What’s the theoretical
probability of randomly choosing an
X?
SOLVES PROBLEMS
INVOLVING
PROBABILITIES OF
SIMPLE EVENTS
OBJECTIVES:

•DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF

EVENTS AND THE TOTAL NUMBER
OF OUTCOMES IN THE SAMPLE
SPACE IN ORDER TO CALCULATE
THE PROBABILITY OF A SIMPLE
EVENT,
•USE THE FORMULA P(E)=N(E)/N(S)
TO CALCULATE THE PROBABILITY
OF A SIMPLE EVENT,
•SOLVE PROBLEMS IN MORE
COMPLEX CONTEXTS INVOLVING
SIMPLE PROBABILITIES
