Skeletal system
• 1. Axial
• 2. Appendicular
Regions:
1. Cervical - 7
2. Thoracic - 12
3. lumbar – 5
4. Sacral – 5(sacrum)
5. Coccigeal 2-4(coccyx)
1. Cervical lordosis
2. Thoracic kyphosis
3. Lumber lordosis
4. Sacral kyphosis
The thoracic vertebra
consists of:
• body
• arches(peducle and lamina)
• vertebral foramen.
• processes (7): spines process, transverse
processes(2), superior(2) and inferior (2) articular
processes(2).
• Thoracic vertebrae have costal facets and
demifacets for ribs.
The cervical vertebrae
consists of 7 vertebrae. They have transverse foramina for the vertebral artery, they have small body, short bifid spinous process (specific, characteristic)
C 1 is called atlas(no body, no spinouse process). It has anterior arch and tubercle, posterior arch and posterior tubercle, lateral masses, which articulates superiorly to occipital condyles, inferiorly to axis.
C2 called axis, which has dens – articulates to anterior arch of the atlas.
processes.

Sternum consists of 3 parts: manubrium, body and xiphoid processe.
RIBS are divided into 3 groups: true(1-7), false(8-10), floating(11-12)
The Rib consists of: head(articulates with vertebral body), neck and body.
