And The Diseases That
Affect The Digestive System
– Their Detection,
Prevention, And Treatment
PROBLEMS
INVOLVING
THE DIGESTIVE
SYSTEM
1. INDIGESTION

• Also called dyspepsia, is a

disorder wherein you feel
as if your stomach is
growling.
• There is abdominal pain,
and you feel bloated and
nauseated.
2. Acid Reflux, Gastroesophageal Reflux
Disease (GERD), and Heartburn

• Are disorders caused by the

back flowing (or reflux) of
the acidic gastric juice into
the esophagus.
• Acid reflux happens when the
sphincter muscles located between
the esophagus and stomach become
weak or fail to close.

• Chronic condition of acid reflux

is called gastroesophageal
reflux disease (GERD), and this
can result in persistent heartburn.
• Heartburn is the
uncomfortable burning
sensation felt behind
the breastbone as the
acidic gastric juice
passes through the
esophagus.
3.
CONSTIPATION
• Is the difficult and incomplete passage
of stool or fecal materials and the
infrequent bowel movements (less than
three bowel movements per week).
• The person suffering from this disorder
feels bloated and becomes stressed
during defecation.
• Chronic constipation can lead to anal
fissures and hemorrhoids.
4. DIARRHEA
• Or loose bowel movement is the
increased number of bowel movements
per day.
• It is often caused by viruses and
bacteria ingested through the intake of
contaminated foods and drinks or
consuming foods and drinks you are
not used to or even due to taking
medications.

2. Constipation
3. Peptic ulcers
4. Diarrhea
5. Rumen
5. PEPTIC
ULCERS
• Are sores or lesions that form in the
lining of the stomach or the duodenum
(the first portion of the small intestine)
• This disorder is caused by stress, chronic
intake of certain medicines, unhealthy
lifestyle, and bacterial infection
(Helicobacter pylori) that weaken the
mucous lining of the stomach and
duodenum.
HEALTHFUL
PRACTICES THAT
AFFECT THE
DIGESTIVE
SYSTEM
• A diet rich in raw living food
should be part of our daily
diet.
o Raw diets such as
vegetable salads, fruits,
nuts, vegetable, and fruit
juices should be parts of
our daily diet.
• Food rich in fiber is also
recommended.
o Fiber does not completely
break down during the
digestive process, and they
“sweep” the large intestine to
keep it clean and to assist in
the elimination of fecal
materials.
• Drinking enough water
likewise promotes healthy
digestion.
o The digestive process
takes place in the presence
of water. All cell functions
require water to perform
optimally.
• Exercise a little while after
eating.
o Light exercise such as brisk
walking and short distance
biking help the digestive
system.
