Female Reproductive
System

It consists of internal and external


organs. It creates hormones and is
responsible for fertility,
menstruation and sexual activity.
There are different parts of female reproductive system.

VAGINA
- The vagina is the accessory
reproductive structure of the
female reproductive system. It
is a tubular part after the
cervix. It opens to the exterior
through the vaginal orifice.

CERVIX
The function of the cervix is to
allow flow of the menstrual blood
from the uterus into the vagina,
and also directs the sperms to
the uterus during the process of
intercourse.

ENDOMETRIUM

The endometrium is the


innermost lining layer of the
uterus. The endometrium is one
of the most important players of
the female reproductive system.

OVARY

The ovaries are small, oval-


shaped glands located on
either side of your uterus. It
produced and store eggs
(also called ovum).

 FALLOPIAN TUBE

The fallopian tubes, also known


as uterine tubes, or oviducts,
are paired tubes in the human
female that stretch from the
uterus to the ovaries.

 UTERUS

The uterus is a pear-shaped


organ in the female reproductive
system. Serves as site of egg
implantation; is where the
fertilized egg develops.
Role of Hormone Involve in Female Reproductive System.

The female reproductive system, just like the male


reproductive system is also regulated by
hormones. The ovaries produce estrogen and
progesterone.
Estrogen is the hormone that regulates
the menstrual cycle while
progesterone is the hormone that
supports pregnancy. During pregnancy,
these two work together and are
responsible for the changes that take
place during pregnancy.
