Triangle Midline Theorem

The Triangle Midline Theorem states that the

segment that joins the midpoints of two sides of a
triangle is parallel to the third side and is half as
long.
Given a figure 𝐌𝐋 ̅ ∥ 𝐀C𝐂̅
ML = 1/𝟐(AC)

△ABC in which ML̅̅ cuts BA̅̅ and BC̅̅ at their

midpoints, the Triangle Midline Theorem states
that ML ̅̅ is parallel to ̅AC̅ and the length of ML
̅̅ is half the length of ̅AC̅ .
Proof for the Triangle Midline Theorem?
To prove the Triangle Midline Theorem, a two-column proof can be used.

ISOSCELES TRAPEZOID – A SPECIAL TRAPEZOID!
There is a special type of trapezoid in which two pairs of its angles are congruent
– the isosceles trapezoid. An isosceles trapezoid is a trapezoid in which the legs
are congruent and the base angles are congruent.
Example

Ordered pair (3,0)

Solutions
The next theorem states that opposite angles of an isosceles
trapezoid are supplementary. Supplementary angles are two
angles whose sum ofmeasures is 180ᵒ.
Evaluation

Use the elimination method

in solving the system of
equations.
Example

A. Solve the system of equations by elimination

1. x + y =-34 2. -3x – 2y = 58 3. x + 7y =
41
2x – 6y = 24 -3x + 7y = -33 2x – 5y =
-13
