What

Is it??
Brief Info
• The great depression was the most severe and damaged
economic downfall of the world, but also in all of history.
This ranged IN 10 YEARS and had such a big impact and
the state of the world.

4
Who were affected
Countries and
people Specific Herbert hoover

It wasn’t only USA, but As the 31 st president of the

United States he needed to guide
countries all over the world,
his country through this
Canada, Australia, France,
depression and boy did he
Germany, Netherlands, and
completely fumble. Trying to
the United Kingdom fix it, he increased the tax and
that made it WORSE. He also
increased the prices of things in
the market, making it HARDER
FOR THE ECONOMY (More on
this alter)

6
When did this
start and end
Strategic •The whole depression was 1929-1939. The day it
started October 29th 1929 also referred as black
features Tuesday.

The stock market crash Inflation and Deflation The cycle
on 1929 and poverty

10
Stock market crash
•For example the wheat were overproduced caused a incredible drop in the stock market, This
stock market crash really started in US, the prices stock deflated a lot (if you don’t know about
stocks then this may be confusing to you). Lots and I say LOTS of people lost their jobs which
resulted in poverty and being poor/homeless

11
Inflation and deflation
•This is interesting due to the 1920s being called
the “Roaring twenties” America was BOOMING
in economy. And when the market crashed, it got a
whole lot worse still.

12
The cycle
• So firstly we have bank fails, alright so basically when people want to cash out their stocks and the cycle,
this means that stocks drop and this is really REALLY BAD bank cant provide this money it basically makes
the stocks drop because basically no one wanted to invest in stocks form this

• This is how I feel like I can

easily explain what “the cycle
is”

• This makes it so stock investors don’t

have as much money, this makes it so
they can’t give as much money to the
employers.

So then the workers weren’t able to afford

stuff in the market and products so then
BANKS weren’t able to make money.

• This made the employers made the

workers get paid less or not get paid a
13
lot and this increased unemployment a

The roaring
20s Dust bowl -1930 Bank failures -
Right after WW1 just This is a time where there was 1929-33
ended, the NA multiple dust storms and This is when some of the
economy in the 20s droughts leading the farmland BEST BANKS IN THE
was rapidly eroding and it becoming dry WORLD started failing
improving, from new and dusty which didn’t help and this showed the world
products and stuff much as that is a key income was screwed
like the Model T/ for USA.

Black Agricultural It ending and WWII

Thursday depression 1933 most countries
To start the stocks went This basically recovered, but the full
to incredible decline lead up to the dust recovery was the early
which panicked a lot of 1940s and we know what
bowls
the stock investors happens next
(Roughly 1% of the
population) but as I
mentioned before “the
cycle”.

How did everything get fixed you may

This can be shown as
ask? Well occasionally, governments all
around the world will add money into millions of people especially
stocks so they slowly increase, this made it
USA and Canda left
SO MUCH WORSE early on but slowly
got fixed unemployed, hungry and
homeless. Also, a horrible
drought as well as very
dependence of farm exports
17
being extremely impacted.
